More April Info.
1. I am collecting small boxes for a mapping project the class will do next week. Please send in any you can find by Tuesday, April 23.
2. Reminder that the students need to bring in small sticks they can break and something from nature to use as eyes for the puppet making project on Monday.
3. I am encouraging the students to start saying goodbye to parents at the door or the top of the ramp to develop a greater sense of responsibility and independence. The kindergarten students started this last week and it would be great for the grade ones to be role models. This is not to say you are not welcome to visit the class or check in with me.......just not every morning. Do pop down though to see the beautiful spring flowers hanging above the coat hooks.
4. As students finish reading their city library books, they can bring them into the classroom. I will have a specific spot for them until our next walk .
Thanks for all your support !!!

April News:
Social Studies: The class has completed an investigation of the neighbourhood and community. We have begun to look at Canadian symbols and the students will also be introduced to basic mapping skills. Students are welcome to bring in Canadian symbol items to school for sharing.
Math: The class is currently working on numbers to 100. Students are learning to count forwards and backwards, read and record numbers to 100, skip count by 2s, 5s, and 10s.
P.E.: We are starting kilometre club next week. Students will be running, walking, skipping around the field on Mon., Wed. and Thur.. (During school time). We will be out rain or shine so students need to dress for the weather and wear appropriate shoes for running. I will keep track of the distances and students will earn ribbons at different milestones.
Writing: For the last term the focus will be on story writing as well as adding more description to written work.
Dates to remember:
April 8: Kilometre club starts
April 16: Our first trek to the city library.
April 26: Pro-day (no school for students)
