Using light to tell stories
The students were asked:
"How might you use light to tell a story?"
With their table groups, and many of the materials we have used during our experimentation with light, the children found ways to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of light to create and tell stories with their able groups.

Do all materials reflect light?
Todays provocation: Do all materials reflect light?
The children were given a variety of materials to test for their ability to reflect light and how much light is reflected. They discovered that smooth, shiny materials such as mirrors and shiny metal reflect more light than dull ones, such as cloth.

Exploration!
On Tuesday we headed out for outdoor learning with a plan in place. Our plan was postponed when a group of students discovered a Christmas tree. They worked together to free it form a pile of branches and drag/carry it to and open space. They then problem solved as to how to get it to stand. It was amazing to see them all working together. After managing to get it standing by supporting it with branches and and rocks the children found things to decorated it. They then formed a circle around the tree and broke into Christmas carols.
After celebrating Christmas again, we reviewed the terms opaque, transparent and translucent. The students then used their flashlights and clipboards to record times that had one of those attributes.
