Chicks

It has been a very exciting week with the hatching of the chicks.  They are not quite strong enough to be held by the children so we sat in small circle groups to get a closer look.

Money Math

In math the children have been learning to identify coins by their symbol and value.  Below you will see pictures of them playing a money game where the trade smaller coins for larger coins when they have the same value.

Playground Games

The grade 7s having been working on building community.  They set up stations today and taught the Ks and grade ones some playground games that could be played at recess and lunch. It was very successful!

 

Reading Awareness Week - Friday

The focus on reading today was reading/speaking through song.  Mr. Karr played his guitar and taught the children two songs; The Yellow Submarine and Down By The Bay.  In the afternoon the flashlights came out and the children found a spot in the area to read on their own or with a friend.

Earth Day

This Sunday is Earth Day.  We had a class discussion on how we can take care of the earth and then, in the spirit of conservation, went outside for art .  The challenge was to create a spring picture using found materials.  They all worked creatively with a partner.
