Reading Awareness Week: Monday

Buddy reading. A grade 7 class read books to us and we read stories we wrote and home reading stories to them.

Garden Visits

We began the day today with a visit to Loutet Garden.  The children looked for changes in the garden and then explored  compost; what goes into the compost, how compostable materials break down.
Each child was given a plate of soil from the compost to investigate.  They found all sort of bugs, food scraps, twigs and insect eggs.  Very exciting!

Fun Friday

We started out the day with printing and then played a memory game with this weeks spelling words.  The students then made leprichaun hats.  We went on a parade around the school. In math we have started to look at 3D objets.  Today's challenge was to create a castle and then record the different objects used.  Four children also prepared a snack with Nikki for the class to share.  They made shamrock shakes.  Yum!  Everybody will have a food prep activity before the end of the year.

Outdoor Learning: Leprechaun Traps

The children worked together to create a leprechaun trap.  They were very creative in their design making were ramps, trapdoors and fences to catch a leprechaun.
