This afternoon a grade 12 English class came to visit from Sutherland High School.  Their task was to interview a child in this class.  They asked about your child's hobbies, interests, likes and dislikes.  The grade 12s will now write a children's story incorporating some of that information. In January they will come back and present their book to their grade one buddy.

Snowball Spelling

For spelling today I printed the words out and crumpled up the paper to look like a snow ball.  The children then chose a snowball read their word, printed it on a white board and then threw it back in the circle.  It was a fun, active way to start the day.

Outdoor Learning: Looking a the Sky

The class has stared a new science unit. Over the next few weeks we will be looking the big idea:  Observable patterns and cycles occur in the local sky.  We will investigate common objects in the sky (sun, moon, stars),  look a the cause of day and night and seasonal changes.
Today, for outdoor learning we took the children up to Loutet park and read a story about how Raven brought light to the world.

The children then found a quiet spot and recorded what they saw in the sky.
