Outdoor Learning

On Tuesday we our to the forest.  The students had some free play, which includes exploration and investigation.

I then read a story called Not a Stick about imaging what a stick could represent.  The children then found their own sticks and we all orally finished the sentence:  This is not a stick this is a .....

We then introduced the idea of journey sticks used by some aboriginal groups to remember where they have been.  Students collected things in the forest and on their way back to school.  On Wednesday the children will put their journey sticks together and tell  the story of their journey.
